Hurricane Ian Waterway & Wetland Remediation

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, Gorman was engaged to perform large-scale debris removal from waterways and wetland areas across the Fort Myers region. Operations required a coordinated combination of heavy land-based and aerial removal methods to access and extract titled vessels, vehicles, trailers, shipping containers, motorhomes, and related debris from severely impacted areas. Land-based equipment included cranes ranging from 60-ton to 400-ton capacity, while marine operations utilized a 150-foot barge equipped with a 225-ton crane. Aerial operations involved two MD902 helicopters and one UH-1 Huey, deploying personnel into dense mangrove areas via hoist systems. Debris was segmented to a maximum lift weight of 4,000 pounds and extracted via long-line aerial lift, then transported to a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)-approved reduction site for processing and disposal.
