Marine Construction

Our Services

When the work is over water, we’re built for it.

Gorman has built and restored coastal and waterfront infrastructure for decades. We work with municipalities, marine developers, waterfront property owners, and state and federal agencies on projects that demand technical precision and a deep read of the coastal environment.

Capabilities

Marinas: New marina facilities and marina rehabilitation, including fixed pier structures, utilities, and upland support improvements.

Piers & Docks: Commercial and public pier structures for marine access, recreation, and working waterfronts.

Wharves and Fender Systems: Wharves, fender systems, and dolphins for berthing, mooring, and vessel protection at working waterfronts.

Seawalls and Bulkheads: New construction and rehabilitation of seawalls and bulkheads that protect waterfront property and infrastructure from erosion and wave action, for residential, commercial, and municipal clients along the coast and inland waterways.

Marine Construction

The Gorman Approach

  • Assess: Evaluate site conditions, water depth, soil bearing capacity, and environmental constraints before work begins.
  • Engineer: Coordinate with project engineers and permitting agencies to keep designs compliant and constructable.
  • Execute: Deploy marine equipment and experienced crews to complete work safely and efficiently in tidal, coastal, and inland water environments.
  • Protect: Deliver structures built to stand up to coastal conditions for the long haul.

Key Considerations and Expertise

Marine construction takes more than equipment. It takes crews who understand how the water works. Gorman Marine brings specialized knowledge of coastal geology, tidal patterns, and environmental permitting. We self-perform pile driving, marine carpentry, and structural installation, keeping quality control in our own hands from mobilization to closeout.

Equipment & Resources

Gorman Marine operates its own fleet of marine equipment, including cranes, tugs, barges, work boats, and pile driving rigs capable of working in shallow and deep water across the regions we serve.

Safety and Compliance

Work-zone safety is non-negotiable. Gorman crews are trained in DOT traffic control and maintenance-of-traffic standards, plan every phase around protecting workers and the traveling public, and run a documented safety-first culture on every job site. Safety is built into the schedule, not traded against it.
